Hydrolytic stability resistant series PC/ABS (HAC8250R) is mainly used in automotive interior products such as automotive dashboard skeleton.
As the supporting structure of the whole instrument panel, the importance of the automobile dashboard skeleton is self-evident, so the OEMs put forward more stringent requirements for the materials of the instrument panel.
At present, the dashboard skeleton not only requires good mechanical properties, processing performance, but also excellent hydrolysis resistance and thermal aging performance, in order to adapt to the car in the extreme high temperature, high humidity environment.
In PCT (Pressure Cooker Test) Test, after 1000h at 95%RH and 100℃, the molecular weight of PC phase in the new generation of PC/ABS remained more than 90%, and no serious hydrolysis occurred.
However, the impact performance of the alloy only decreases by 15%, which improves the performance by more than 30% compared with ordinary PC/ABS.
In addition, in order to meet the requirements of thin-walled instrument panels, this series of materials reduces the viscosity of materials under high shear, and overcomes the disadvantages of thermal decomposition of materials caused by unilaterally increasing the temperature to improve the material fluidity in the past.
The new generation of hydrolysis resistant and stable PC/ABS materials can even be recycled due to their good hydrolysis resistance and thermal stability.
When less than 25% recycled material is added, the multi-axial impact performance of the material only decreases by 11%, and the material is ductile fracture, which fully shows the superior performance of the new generation PC/ABS.
At the same time, this series of materials have also been evaluated by the public laboratory, after 80%RH, 90℃ high temperature and humidity hydrolysis for 600h, notch impact strength only decreased by 8.5%.
At present, the material has been used in Volkswagen Passat, Chrysler 300C, GM Buick and other models.
